Rihannas ,now controversial video for S&M has been banned in 11 countries. Absurd.
The bondage,spanking and sex-infused lyrics are a bit too much for some viewers.I mean,the song is entitled S&M,what do you expect?? Nevertheless,our troopers over at MTV are still airing the music video as is(and truth be told,that's the ONLY station that gets notoriety anymore).Little do the other networks know,banning a music video only gets the video more publicity. Youtube has connected a verification of consenting age before you view it via their site, Absurd:Part II.
Rihanna tweeted earlier today that her video for "Umbrella displayed her fully nude and THAT wasn't banned."

This ordeal familiarizes me with a movie I watched recently ,The Notorious Bettie Page. Based on actual events,its about a woman who was acclaimed The Queen of Pin Up Girls back in the mid-5o's and early 6o's.Similar to Rihanna,Bettie was chastised and a part of a huge scandal that involved bondage,spanking and sexual exploitation;all elements similar to the S&M video.It was looked down upon then and sadly,looked down upon now.
Its all just ridic to me.Its nothing shy of self expression & a little undertone of rationalization and the media takes it totally out of proportion.Melina directed this video as well as a couple others for Ms.Fenty and she is both surprised and pleased that the video is getting such buzz & criticism. Her directorial attributes on Rockstar 101 were nothing short of maniacal,devil-worshiping,chains,blood,crows and it wasn't even mentioned as a threat or damage to watch.

Here's the video again for those of you who haven't seen it. Watch & tell me if you've seen worse that was allowed on networks. (i.e Auntie Gaga's music videos has displayed worse connotations that this but are still aired with no avail.)
